Eat It, Damn It!

Reviews, raves, slams, and damns.

Jerry’s Seafood & Dairy Freeze

Fried clams should not be difficult. Take relatively fresh clams, bread them, and fry them. That’s it. Supply a half decent tartar sauce for dipping, and viola, deep-fried lunchtime Nirvana is achieved.

Jerrys Front
Jerry’s is a little place on the side of the road. Near all the other t-shirt shops, Cuffy’s, beach towel stores, and other businesses that line Cape Cod roads, it is an unpretentious establishment that is supposedly popular with the locals. Go up the counter, eyeball the menu, place your order and wait at one of the tables.

Fried Clam Strips
I got the Fried Clam Strip Platter ($9.95). It consists of deep-fried clams and french fries. They were perfect. Not spectacular or mind-blowing, but just right. Neither the fries nor the clams were greasy, overly salted, or funky. The fries did not taste of clam, so I’m pretty sure they used separate friers, which is an excellent idea.

Greek Salad with Chicken
My girlfriend got the Greek Salad with Chicken ($8.95). She was surprised that the breading on the chicken was so light. It was a simple and proper salad, iceberg, feta, olives, tomatoes and some chicken. No muss, no fuss.

The only beef I have with Jerry’s is that they are not air-conditioned. It’s a great little lunch spot, perfect for a quick bite or take-out. Parking is ample, and the food is prepared quickly. Don’t hesitate to drop in for a snack.
