Pizza in Florida. There are some New Yorkers that wouldn’t dream of eating pizza in New Jersey, much less south of the Mason-Dixon line. However, MG’s uncle was treating and company was coming over. I figured, “Let’s give it a shot.”
Jet’s Pizza is supposedly Midwestern style pizza. I’m not sure exactly what Midwestern style pizza should taste like.
The first pie was pepperoni and mushroom (with a few slices of anchovy in one corner). It was pizza. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t anything special either. The pizza tasted like a type of Chicago Deep Dish, but the crust was not crisp, and the sauce was not liberal. It was somewhere between a mediocre Sicilian and Pizza Hut.
The other pie was vegetable, topped with green peppers, olives, and mushrooms.
I can’t really bash Jet’s Pizza. It was pizza that did not offend nor excite. It was pretty well cooked, but there was nothing enticing about the offerings. You could do worse, but I’m sure that you could also do better.
